Ingredients

  • 1 ground beef (or half beef, half pork sausage)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 small carrot, finely grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 1/2 tsp salt & pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes (with juices)

Instructions

  1. Cook the meat in hot skillet until almost done. Break up with spatula.
  2. Add chopped onions, garlic & carrot (may need to add some olive oil).
  3. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add herbs, stir well.
  5. Add wine to deglaze the pan, scraping any bits off the bottom.
  6. Add tomatoes (with juices) and mix well.
  7. Simmer all together for 30 mins to an hour.
